SA pilot UC3 will run in two iterations. The first iteration will run from October 2021 till January 2022. The second iteration will run from October 2022 till March 2023.

First iteration

The first pilot run includes issuing and verifying higher education diplomas in the form of verifiable credentials. The following simplifications have been done:

  • Two-country scenario will be validated, i.e. a student for which the verifiable credentials will be issued and verified will come from the Data Provider country;
  • There will be just one issuer per Member State;
  • The public DID identifiers of the issuing organizations will be anchored manually to the Trusted Issuer Registry (TIR) on the EBSI infrastructure;
  • The exchange of the Diploma evidence in the form of Verifiable Credential (i.e., Verifiable attestation) will be validated in technical terms and not content wise;
  • Only a single interaction between Verifier/Issuer) and user is foreseen.

Second iteration

The final pilot run will include the following additional functionalities:

  • Complete VC flow;
  • Simplification of the VC flow;
  • Automatic anchoring of issuers' DIDs;
  • Content-wise validation of VC;
  • Multiple student DIDs;
  • Multiple connections.
