The pilot will implement the reference process of the User-supported Intermediation Pattern as designed in the Project Start Architecture.

Here, the main steps of the process are summarised:

  • Student accesses an eProcedure portal of a Data Consumer (DC) in order to apply to higher education studies.
  • Student is requested to authenticate at the DC with legally recognized electronic identity (eIDAS identity).
  • Upon successful authentication the student is presented with a list of study programmes. Student selects the programme of choice.
  • Student is requested to provide the higher education diploma evidence that is mandatory for application.
  • Student explicitly requests that Once-only Principle Technical System is used to retrieve the diploma from a Data Provider (DP) in his/her home country.
  • DC sends a request to the DP that stores student's diploma and redirects the students to the DP's Evidence portal.
  • Students authenticates at the DP.
  • DP retrieves students's diploma from a registry, transforms it into canonical format according to the SA UC1 data model and shows it to the student.
  • Student previews the diploma and gives consent that it is sent to the DC.
  • DP transferres the diploma to the DC through the Once-only Principle Technical System and redirects the students back to the DC.
  • DC transforms the diploma from canonical format to local format and prefillls an application form.
  • Student enters missing information that cannot be gathered from the DP, e.g. e-mail address, contact phone number, address for notice, in the form and submits application.
  • DC validates the application and acknowledges receipt.
